Rev. Dr. Michael H. Bone grew up in Evansville, Indiana, has been an Air Force Academy cadet, a “preacher boy” in Campbellsville, Kentucky, and a third-shift computer operator in New Hampshire among other things. Originally a Southern Baptist pastor, Rev. Bone left that denomination in 1995 because of their right-wing takeover. He found a warm home in the United Church of Christ while pursuing an advanced degree at Boston University and has since served UCC churches in Colorado, New Hampshire and Missouri.
A life-long learner, Mike is usually seen carrying a bookbag and heard (at quite a distance) laughing and singing. When not preparing for worship or visiting members of the congregation, Mike enjoys going for walks with his wife, Billie, discussing pop culture with his son, Ben, and playing board games with his twin daughters who live and work in the St. Louis area. His current focus is on deepening spirituality and fostering church vitality through communities of practice.
