Chat - 1/10/14

Long time, no "Chat!"  I hope the holiday season was a great one for you.  I am looking forward to a wonderful 2014 (so far, so good).

Although January and February can sometimes feel like there isn't much to do, Christ Church has many great opportunities to take advantage of to help us get through the winter blahs.  There are fellowship activities scheduled for the next four weekends, a special overview of the book of Matthew led by Rev. Gehres, a Women's retreat, a Confirmation field trip, as well as our weekly meetings and rehearsals.  Here is a detailed look:

This Sunday, January 12.  A coffee hour will be held following worship in the fellowship hall.  Confirmation will meet at 5:00, with Youth Fellowship following at 6:00.

Spiritual Council will meet on Monday at 6:30 before the Consistory meeting at 7:00.

The Fellowship Committee meets on Tuesday at 7:00.

The usual activities are on tap for Wednesday night.

Other important things to note:

  • The Daughters Event will be held on Saturday, Feb. 1, 6:00 p.m.  The Fellowship committee has been hard at work planning a delicious menu and coming up with a few, fun, new ideas.  Tickets will be on sale before and after worship in the gathering area the next three Sundays (adults--$8, ages 4-12 $5, 3 and under free).  We will still be assembling baby bundles, so if you haven't already,  please take a tag off of the board in the gathering area.
  • Rev. Gehres will be holding a one-night overview of the Gospel of Matthew on Tuesday, Jan. 21, 7:00 p.m.  Matthew is the lectionary Gospel for this Year, so this will be a good opportunity to look at his Gospel as a whole, how it is presented, and its basic message from Matthew's point of view.
  • A Costa Rica mission trip meeting as been scheduled for Sunday, Jan. 19, during the Third Sunday Potluck.  Deposits will be due on the 20th.

As always, give me a call or email me with any questions!
