Chat - 8/21/14

I hope I can remember everything I have to chat with you about today.  Things are gearing up now that school is back in session.  Here's what you need to know:

SUNDAY, Aug. 24: It is Rally Day, Outdoor Worship, and PicnicRally Day will begin at 9:00.  The Christian Ed. committee is hosting games from around the world to kick-off the new Sunday school season.  There will be snacks, and there will also be running, so this would be the day to wear your tennis shoes to church!  Outdoor worship will be held under the big tent in the green space.  Some chairs will be set up, but you might want to bring your own lawn chairs and umbrellas (to block the sun).  In case of inclement weather, the service will be held in the sanctuary as usual.  The Worship committee will host the annual picnic immediately following worship in the fellowship hall.  Everything is provided.  Youth Fellowship will hold a Back-to-School-Bash at Putt 'n Stuff from 6-8 p.m.  Permission forms and money must be turned in to the church office Sunday morning!

TUESDAY, Aug. 26: The Mission committee meets at 6:00 p.m.

WEDNESDAY, Aug. 27: The Chancel Choir resumes rehearsals following summer break, at 7:30 p.m.

OTHER ITEMS TO NOTE:

  • The All-Church Golf Scramble:  Join us at The Pines at 1:00 pm  on Sunday, September 7th for an all-church golf scramble.  Cost is $11 to walk and $15 to ride.  Contact Nancy Hranko if you are interested in playing.  We will be playing a scramble format & all skill levels are invited to play.  We look forward to seeing you on the course!

  • We are collecting all sizes of NEW socks for the Salvation Army/United Way "Happy Feet Project."  A box is set up in the gathering area.

  • There is a sign-up sheet posted outside of the office for Fry Wagon volunteers.  Youth 8th-12th grade are encouraged to sign up, as this is a fun and easy fundraiser for the youth program.  All adults and college students are also welcome to help.
