Chat - 2/16/18

There is a lot going on this Sunday, February 18, so let's get right to it...

Before & After Worship:

-Tickets for the Daughters Dinner will be on sale.  This is the last Sunday to purchase them.  They will be available in the church office next week or at the door the night of the dinner, but it would be helpful for food purchasing if the Fellowship Committee has a pretty accurate count by Sunday.

-Baby Bundle donations need to be turned in.  Thanks to everyone that donated items.

-Sign up sheets for the Women's Retreat, March 9-10, and volunteers to help with Daughters Dinner clean-up are posted on the office bulletin board.

-The Third Sunday Potluck will be held following worship.  Bring a dish to share and table settings, and enjoy a dinner together.

During Worship:

-Anointing for Healing and Blessing will take place.

-The Love Offering will be collected. The Love Offering supports United Church of Christ Disaster Relief for Puerto Rico and the American Virgin Islands who were affected by Hurricane Maria in August 2017. Some 400,000 people still do not have electricity, five months after the storm. Many families who came to American cities when their homes were destroyed will soon be returning to rebuild. Continued aid is needed for these families displaced by the disaster. Please be generous in this opportunity to help those who must start again to build their lives. They are truly our neighbors.

Sunday Evening:

-Confirmation and Youth Fellowship will be held.

On Monday, the Care Ministries Cabinet will meet at 9:00 a.m.  The Search Committee meets at 6:30 p.m.

The usual activities are scheduled for Wednesday.

****EXTRA ANNOUNCEMENTS

-You will want to mark your calendars for Sunday, May 20th.  This will be the day our congregation celebrates the 24 years of ministry provided by Randy and Grace Gehres.  (Randy’s last day in the pulpit will be June 3rd.)  More information will be in the March newsletter, but save the date!

-Megan Mowrer has been hired as Principal Organist.  Through the efforts of our organist search committee, we are pleased to announce that, beginning March 4th, Megan Mowrer will become our principal organist.  Many people in our congregation will remember Megan as an Orrville High School graduate who was very active in music and drama  We look forward to welcoming her and her husband, Tyler, on the 4th.
